I just watched the movie "Le Grand Voyage" tonight.
The story is a about a journey which has been travelled by a devout muslim father and his teen aged son from southern France through Italy, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, and Turkey to eventually arrive at Mecca in his mission to obtain a pilgrimage. The father decided to travel by automobile rather than using plane or boat. The inevitable obstacles taken by automobile along the way deem more righteous rather than using the latter. People even used to travel on foot or horse back in the past. Compare to those people, it has been much better now.
The ride begin with long uncomfortable silences along the way as there were lot of conflicts arouse between father and son due the differences in their vision. The stranger hitchikers they have met along the way has allowed them to have the chance to reconcile and drawn him closer to his father. As they began to understand each other better.
P.S :
" It is a blessing to have a good end to journey toward; but it is the journey itself that matters in the end. "
